Origins in the 17th Century
Hollands Glad (Dutch Smooth) finds its roots at the end of the 17th century. At that time, Dutch silversmiths began to strip their designs of superfluous ornamentation. What remained was a sleek, smooth, and timeless design.
Classic design
Characteristic of this style are the oval, pointed spoon bowls, wide handles, and flat ends. Around 1920, designer Hendrik Jacobus Valk gave this form a modern impulse with the design of model 250.
