  • Does this Demeyere glass lid fit any pan of the same size?

    Yes. The glass lid fits any Demeyere pan of the same diameter. If you buy a 28-centimeter lid, it will fit a 28-centimeter Demeyere frying pan, wok, or cooking pot. The size refers to the inner diameter of the pan.

  • Can the Demeyere glass lid go in the oven?

    Yes, the lid is oven safe. Do not use under the grill. The heat source from the grill is too direct and can damage the glass.

  • Can the Demeyere glass lid go in the dishwasher?

    Yes, the glass lid is dishwasher safe. The stainless steel rim and knob are dishwasher safe. Hand washing is never wrong, but the dishwasher is not a problem here.

  • Does this glass lid also fit pans from other brands?

    That is possible, but not guaranteed. The diameter of pans varies by brand and sometimes by series. Demeyere lids are designed for Demeyere cookware. Other brands sometimes use slightly different dimensions, meaning the lid may not close tightly.

  • Why doesn't this lid have a steam vent?

    Demeyere deliberately chooses lids without steam vents. Steam is energy and flavor. By keeping the steam in the pan, you cook more energy-efficiently and retain more flavor and moisture in the dish. If you have a downdraft extractor, it will also work without a steam vent in the lid.

  • What material are the rim and knob of the glass lid made from?

    The rim and the lid knob are made of stainless steel. This makes the lid sturdier than a version with a plastic rim, and also resistant to higher temperatures and the dishwasher.

  • What is the maximum temperature the glass lid can withstand?

    The lid is oven-safe for normal oven use. Do not use it under the grill or at temperatures above 230 degrees Celsius. The stainless steel knob gets hot in the oven: use oven mitts when removing.

  • What are the advantages of a glass lid compared to a stainless steel lid?

    With a glass lid, you can see if something is boiling, simmering, or already cooked without lifting it. This is useful for stews, sauces, and anything that's on low heat. You lift the lid less often, which means you lose less heat and the dish stays at the right temperature better.

  • How do I clean the Demeyere glass lid?

    Simply use warm water and dish soap, or put it in the dishwasher. Let the lid cool down before washing: glass can crack if you put it directly under cold water while hot.

  • How do I know what size glass lid I need?

    Check the bottom of your pan or the product description. Demeyere always lists the diameter as the number on the pan or in the SKU. A 28cm pan needs a 28cm lid. The diameter refers to the top of the pan, not the bottom.

  • Can I still use the glass lid if the glass has shattered or cracked?

    No. A crack or fracture in the glass means the lid needs to be replaced. Cracked glass can shatter when heated and cause injury. Discard the lid as soon as you notice any damage.

  • Can I also use the glass lid as a coaster?

    If you place the lid upside down on a heat-resistant mat, it can serve as a temporary drip tray for the moisture from the lid. It is not intended or suitable as a trivet for hot pans.

  • Does this glass lid have a warranty?

    Demeyere provides a warranty for manufacturing defects under normal use. Damage caused by dropping, impact, or use at incorrect temperatures is not covered by the warranty. If in doubt, please contact Braadbaas.
