Let's get started!
- Pour the wine into a large saucepan. Heat the pan over low heat.
- Slice the oranges and lemon and add them to the red wine.
- Add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, and cayenne pepper. For a sweeter taste, add 2 to 3 tablespoons of sugar.
- Heat this for 30 to 45 minutes. Do not bring the wine to a boil, as this will evaporate the alcohol, and mulled wine without alcohol is like an egg without salt.
- After heating the mulled wine, remove the cloves. Not with your bare hands, of course. Use a spoon or tongs.
- Serve the mulled wine to your guests. Cheers!
