Let's get started!
- Sticky onions are the ideal topping for your burger. Start by slicing the onion into whole or half rings.
- Put some oil in a frying pan and fry your onions with some salt and pepper until golden brown.
- Add the honey and sugar and deglaze your onions with the beer.
- Pour in the apple cider vinegar and let the onions simmer. Stir regularly until a spreadable compote forms.
- When the onions have softened to a golden color, add the (cold) butter. Stir the mixture until the butter has completely dissolved.
Tip
Besides being a burger topping, sticky onions are also delicious to add to your pasta, sauces or quiche.
