Let's get started!

  1. Sticky onions are the ideal topping for your burger. Start by slicing the onion into whole or half rings.
  2. Put some oil in a frying pan and fry your onions with some salt and pepper until golden brown.
  3. Add the honey and sugar and deglaze your onions with the beer.
  4. Pour in the apple cider vinegar and let the onions simmer. Stir regularly until a spreadable compote forms.
  5. When the onions have softened to a golden color, add the (cold) butter. Stir the mixture until the butter has completely dissolved.

Tip

Besides being a burger topping, sticky onions are also delicious to add to your pasta, sauces or quiche.
