The Meater is truly a revolution in cooking. This innovative thermometer precisely calculates how long your dish needs to cook and how long it then needs to rest for the very best result. And all this completely wirelessly. In this blog, we tell you everything you need to know about the Meater! 🤘
What is the MEATER?
What started as a kickstart project has grown into a successful brand available worldwide. The Meater is a revolution in cooking. It is the first fully wireless smart meat thermometer. The Meater not only measures the core temperature of your dish but also the ambient temperature of the BBQ, kamado, oven, pan, or fire pit. Based on these two temperatures, the Meater calculates the perfect cooking time for your dish. You can easily read all information in the app on your phone or tablet. In addition, you will receive a notification when your dish is ready or a warning if the temperature is too high or too low. This leaves your hands free while cooking!
How does the MEATER work?
- Add a food probe safety clip to the thermometer and insert it into your dish.
- Open the Meater app on your phone or tablet. Start a new cooking session, select your dish, and set the desired core temperature.
- Place your dish in the pan, oven, or barbecue.
- Follow the instructions in the app. The Meater monitors the temperature of your dish and the environment and calculates the remaining cooking time.
- Let your dish rest for the indicated time and enjoy your meal!

The advantages of MEATER
Wireless freedom: No more tangled cables. Meater is the first smart thermometer that is completely wireless. Easily monitor your dish, no matter where you are.
Real-time monitoring: Through the Meater app, you can easily keep an eye on your dish. Meater displays the exact core temperature, the ambient temperature, and the remaining cooking temperature. This means you will never overcook or undercook again.
Versatility: Whether you want to bake a juicy steak, grill a rotisserie chicken, or slow-cook a large piece of pork, the Meater is suitable for various types of meat and cooking methods.
The disadvantages of the MEATER
Thick probe: The thermometer is quite thick, leaving a significant hole in your dish, making it less suitable for thin cuts of meat. The Meater 2 Plus is thinner and thus suitable for thin cuts of meat.
No separate display: The thermometer only works in combination with the app. You can therefore only read the temperature on your phone. The Meater Block, on the other hand, does have a separate display.
Battery: The internal battery of the probe itself is not replaceable.

The different types of MEATERS
- Original: The Meater Original, with its range of up to 10 meters, is designed for kitchen use. Thanks to its 2 temperature sensors, you can easily measure internal temperatures up to 100°C and ambient temperatures up to 275°C.
- Plus: The Meater Plus distinguishes itself from the Original with its impressive wireless range of up to 50 meters. It otherwise works the same as the Original.
- 2 Plus: This newest version has an improved temperature range, higher accuracy, and a slimmer form factor. Thanks to additional sensors, the core temperature (up to 105°C) can be measured with even greater precision. In addition, the Flame Guard design increases heat resistance to an ambient temperature of 500°C.
- Block: The Meater Block comes with 4 probes including numbered clips. Ideal when you are preparing multiple dishes at once or working with different heat sources. You can easily read the core and ambient temperatures in the app or on the included base station. The base station also functions as a charging station and range extender.
Charging the MEATER
You can easily charge the Meater in the included wooden box. The charging station is also wireless and runs on an AAA battery. Within an hour, the Meater is recharged and ready for your next cooking session. The thermometer is ideal for dishes with a longer cooking time, as it lasts approximately 24 hours after charging. The light on the charging station indicates whether there is enough power left in your battery. Is the light green? Then everything is fine. Is your light red? Then it's time to replace the battery.

Endless range
The Meater Original has a range of 10 meters and its big brother, the Meater Plus, has a range of 50 meters. Do you want a larger range? Then you can easily extend the current range with Meater Link or Meater Cloud.
For Meater Link, you need a Wi-Fi connection and an extra phone or the Meater Block. You can easily connect the extra device via the Meater app. Place a device near the Meater so that it connects via Bluetooth, and you can connect the second device to it via Wi-Fi. This way, you have coverage everywhere in and around your house.
Do you want to walk the dog or run an errand in between? Then you can monitor your dish remotely with the Meater Cloud. For this, you need Meater Link and a working internet connection. You can easily create an account for Meater Cloud via the Meater app and log in on both devices with it. Via a network connection, you can now monitor your dish from anywhere.
Tips & tricks
- Set extra notifications: For example, you can be warned when the ambient temperature drops below 100 degrees or when a certain core temperature has been reached.
- Save cooking sessions: In the Meater app, you can easily save your favorite preparations so you can use them again later. You can also share the real-time process with your friends so they know exactly what's on the menu and when it's ready!
- Increase your range: The Meater's Bluetooth signal can be limited by walls, windows, and the lid of your barbecue. Fortunately, you can amplify this signal again using Meater Link and Meater Cloud.
In short, at Braadbaas, we are fans of MEATER. It is a true must-have tool for every home cook who wants to serve the most delicious dishes. View all MEATER products here. 👀
